Is the Dodge Charger electric?

For the 2024 model year, the Dodge Charger is going electric. Known as the Dodge Daytona, it benefits from decades of Dodge’s experience in the performance vehicle space. And while some may say a muscle car needs a V8, this vehicle certainly comes with enough power to earn the title. Plus, it looks the part, too.

The new Dodge Daytona has a long nose and comes with a liftback, adding to its practicality. Although we had a glimpse at a concept electric Charger back in 2022, it wasn’t clear what the final product would be. Today, we now know, and it looks quite similar to that very same concept.

How powerful is the 2024 Dodge Daytona?

The Dodge Daytona will come with a range of power outputs, the most potent being 670 horsepower. The standard power output will be 335 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. But if you are looking for more power, the Scat Pack trim will generate 590 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

Although the new electric Charger will lack the analog feel of a manual transmission, it is still focused on speed and performance. That is reflected in things like the 15-second Power Shot, which adds 40 extra horsepower when engaged.

Will there still be a gas-powered Charger?

For the first year of the next-generation Dodge Charger, things will remain electric. But Dodge has promised a muscle car with an internal combustion engine in the near future. The landscape around the automotive world may be changing, but we look forward to seeing the future of a gas-powered Dodge Charger.
